Ronnie Young

Ronnie Young

Ronnie R. Young Sr., director of Recreation & Parks, began his career in recreation more than 40 years ago. Ronnie directed the City of Carrollton, Georgia Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts for 35 years. After retiring in 2001 Ronnie directed the City of Bremen, Georgia department. for 5 years. After completing the Bremen tenure Ronnie joined the Sandy Springs Department of Recreation & Parks as director. Ronnie is a native of Carrollton and was educated in the city schools and West Georgia College. Ronnie has led two departments to recognition by the Georgia Recreation & Park Association, Carrollton 6 times and Bremen once were named agencies of the year for their population class. The Carrollton department also received the coveted "Gold Metal" award in 1987 signifying the top agency nationwide. Ronnie also was recognized as “Professional of the Year” by the Georgia Recreation & Park Association in 2001.

Deb Strycula

Recreation and Athletics Manager

Deb Strycula

Deb Strycula, manager of Recreation & Athletics, began her career in recreation more than 30 years ago, right here in the City of Sandy Springs at Hammond Park. One of her proudest accomplishments was personally implementing and developing the popular Hammond Park gymnastics program. Originally from Chicago, Deb grew up in metro Atlanta and graduated from Mercer University with a bachelor of science in health, physical education and recreation. Her leisure pursuits include enjoying time either at the beach, the lake or playing golf. Deb is a member of both the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and the National Recreation and Parks Association

Erika Sherman

Administrative Assistant to the Director of Recreation and Parks

Erika Sherman

Erika Sherman is administrative assistant to the Recreation and Parks department director, for the City of Sandy Springs. She brings more than 10 years of executive administrative support experience to the department. Erika’s responsibilities include providing research, preparing reports, handling information requests, preparing correspondence and scheduling meetings. She enjoys volunteer work and working with children.

Erika is a member of International Association for Administrative Professionals and Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

Trevor Ramos

Athletic Coordinator

Trevor Ramos

Trevor Ramos, Recreation and Parks supervisor, was born in Gainesville, Ga. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia in sports management. Ramos was the Athletic Coordinator for the Carrollton Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department from 2006 – 2009 and has been a member of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association since 2006. As the Parks Supervisor, Trevor is responsible for all Youth and Adult Athletic Programs for the City of Sandy Springs.

Alan Marks, Sr.

Alan Marks, Sr.

Alan Marks Sr., Recreation and Parks Supervisor, received an Honorable discharged from the ARMY in 2001, Alan went on to receive his degree in Business Management from Robert Morris College. After completing College Alan began his career as a High School In-school Suspension Supervisor and Coach, as well as a Mentor to students through the Peoria Parks Districts Youth Program. After 4 years in his High School career, Alan came to Sandy Springs from Peoria, IL where he joined the Sandy Springs Department of Recreation & Parks as Supervisor. In his spare time, Alan enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and finding out what all Georgia has to offer! Alan is a member of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association. As the Parks Supervisor, Alan is responsible for maintaining safe operation, general order and cleanliness of all assigned Park facilities, and ensuring safe and proper conduct of all park visitors.
