The fire investigators handle all investigations of suspicious and arson fires within the City of Sandy Springs.
The fire investigator responds to incidents involving:

Fire believed to be intentionally set

Fires involving juveniles

Fires involving a fatality

Fires involving a high dollar loss

Acts of terrorism

Other related hazards and/or fires requested by the on-scene incident commander
The primary responsibilities of the fire investigator are to determine the origin and cause of a fire scene set forth in NFPA 921.
