Free CPR Class Being Offered by Sandy Springs Fire Rescue
Release Date: 11/17/2010
November 17, 2010—A free CPR and AED classes will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Sandy Springs Fire Station #4, 4697 Wieuca Road, Atlanta. The classes will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. This class is offered in support of the City’s efforts to educate the community on CPR as well as Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and to make certain that residents are trained to use this knowledge.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the nation, and only five percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive. Immediate CPR and defibrillation can improve the survival rates to 74 percent.
The class will train individuals using the Family & Friends CPR training curriculum, so this short program will teach ordinary residents (who don’t require certification for their jobs) the basics of CPR and how to effectively use a defibrillator in the event they are ever faced with such a situation.
Everyone who attends the training course will be given a Friends & Family training kit, compliments of the City of Sandy Springs. Participants will also be presented with valuable information about pool safety, fire detectors and carbon monoxide awareness.
There is no need to sign up, but more information on Sandy Springs Fire Rescue and the City of Sandy Springs can be found at www.sandyspringsga.org or by calling 770-730-5600.
