The Mayor and City Council of Sandy Springs want to ensure every resident is protected during times of an emergency. To that end, The City of Sandy Springs has signed a contract with SwiftReach Networks, Inc. of Mahwah, N.J., to implement SWIFT 911™, an Emergency Notification Service, which is a reverse 911 type system. It is capable of contacting and notifying all Sandy Springs residents and community members in the event of an emergency. The City will use the system solely to notify residents of emergency incidents throughout the city, where citizen action is requested to preserve life and/or property.
SWIFT 911™ is a high-speed notification system that, in the event of an emergency, contacts every household and/or phone number either by telephone, email, text or pager. Because this program uses a map of Sandy Springs in a grid, calls can alternatively be made to specific neighborhoods with information affecting only that area. To ensure contact is made, the system can continue calling a home until a person answers the call or it is picked up by an answering machine. Emergency messages are able to reach TTY (teletypewriter) phones used by those who are hearing impaired. Additionally, the system employs a Do Not Call component for those who do not wish to receive the alert, although emergency officials advise against that option.
The calls you receive will have the Caller ID of the City of Sandy Springs Emergency Management on them. To receive these calls, please fill out the form below to add or update your contact information. Remember, the “Primary Phone” is the number you use more than 85% of the time—this is where you will be receiving emergency notification.
