Sandy Springs Fire Rescue Offers Free Class to Firefighters
Release Date: 12/9/2010
December 9, 2010—Sandy Springs Fire Rescue is offering a free class on Firefighting Operations in high-rise buildings to any firefighter who registers by visiting ww.sandyspringsga.org. The class is being taught by nationally recognized Denver Fire Department District Chief Dave McGrail and is limited to 200 students per day. The class will be held January 12-14, 2011 at 1155 Perimeter Center West, (Mirant building) in Sandy Springs, from 8:00-5:00 p.m.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to have Dave McGrail here in Sandy Springs,” said Sandy Springs Fire Chief Jack McElfish. “That’s why we want to open this up to other jurisdictions because McGrail’s knowledge is so vast, we want to make sure someone from every department in the metro area can benefit.”
Dave McGrail is a 24-year veteran of the fire service. He instructs internationally on a wide range of fire service topics, specializing in high-rise firefighting and standpipe operations. He is the lead instructor for the engine company (standpipe) hands-on training at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Indiana; FDIC West, Sacramento and Los Angeles, California; and FDIC East Atlantic City, New Jersey.
